    Introdu​ction

The National Center for Health Information was established in 1957 under the name of the Statistics Department. Over the years, it underwent several name changes until 1991 when it became the Department of Statistics and Medical Records. In 2013, Ministerial Decision No. 80 restructured the department, renaming it the National Cent​er for Health Information. ​

The National Center for Health Information aims to develop an integrated, user-friendly, accurate, efficient, and timely health information system that enables evidence-based decision-making in healthcare.

Strategy Goal  
  • #1 Develop an electronic health information system that enables stakeholders to access appropriate data in a timely manner, in accordance with international standards and regulations.
  • #2 Establish an advanced work environment by providing technological and infrastructural support for an integrated health information system that is locally supported, sustainable, scalable, and operational. This will be achieved in collaboration with the Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) through Hyundai Corporation.
  • #3 Enhance and build the professional capacities of employees working in the health information system.
  • #4 Raise awareness about the center’s role and the importance of its available data to ensure maximum benefit for relevant stakeholders.
  • #5 Utilize the center’s available data to conduct statistical studies on health phenomena in the State of Kuwait.
